Task 9 Review

for this project i was assigned to make a 3-dimensional animation that would be used to advertise the college's e6 radio station. with that being the case i researched things that relate to the e6 being its own character in the advertisement like e4's estings and the bbc 2 indents.

after watching a few of these advertisements i have found that each "2" or "e4" has its own quirky characteristics  and the BBC 2 indent is often a very lively character so after researching this i have decided to base the e6 on that style of characteristic.

after doing so i created a few story boards for my ideas but the one that stood out the most to me was the e6 dancing at a disco replicating the iconic scene from Saturday Night Fever.
unfortunately i was un able to do the full scene as i only had a 30 second window and on top of that i couldn't use the memorable bee gees song with it but if i replicated it well enough i think i'd get the message across.

i found that whilst doing the project i my skills with both layout and modeler had improved significantly the only problem i really had was using the path tool as it was awkward to use whilst trying to make the e6 dance so i decided to re size the e6 using the stretch and squash tools this allowed me to mimic body movement without the character having a skeleton also although the camera angles seem fine, if i put more time in to it i think i could have made things look allot smoother. i also had the idea of giving the e6 arms to give it more character but the deadline had already passed and i was in no position to make such drastic changes.

over all i am very happy with the outcome but if i had more time i know i could have made it better.

Task 7 Post Production

did not have to do a huge amount in terms of post production, as I had already done most of my own improvised effects inside layout.

My tutor suggested me to render my whole animation out as screenshots because the rendering method had a bad habit of failing half way through unexpectedly and as a result, you'd lose the complete rendered clip, however, as screen shots, once they are rendered, you've got the shot, thus if the rendering did fail, you would not lose anything.
the first thing i had to do as i rendered the motion graphic out 6 times was put each rendered clip in on 6 different layers, the reason i rendered it out 6 times was because of the tiles lighting up as i selected a small cluster of tiles to light up and then for another render i selected another cluster of tiles and so on.

I then selected a sound file of my choice to go over the motion graphic.
because the sound file was too long i had to cut it down to 30 seconds using the razor tool.

Task 5 Ethical/H&S Sign-off

Task 6 Production

first i removed the "e6" from the e6 radio frame i then created a dance floor for the e6 to dance on.

i then created a dance floor for the e6 character to dance on and changed a few of the tiles surfaces so that they would each flash at different times.i first created the floor by making a small box and slightly thickening it using the stretch tool and then duplicating it.
i then created a track for the e6 to follow using the path tool.
at first it wasn't too easy to maneuver but once i tackled the basics of the motion path i found it to be manageable.

Task 4 - Storyboard

Task 3 - Ideas Generation

Task 2 - Research

This is by far my favorite idea and it was the first thing i thought of when we were given the assignment.
Essentially i would first create a dance floor and then separate the "e6" from the frame it is provided with
and make it follow a track that vaguely replicates the dance scene from Saturday night fever.

This wasn't my favorite idea but i would have liked to have seen it from a first person kind of perspective.
this one may have been simpler to do but it would have taken a lot of time to figure out how to figure out the camera and use it the way i would have wanted too, also the corridor would have taken more time to lay out so over all this one seems like a lot more work for an idea i'm not keen on
